Streamlined Supply Chain Solutions

Our range of Supply Chain and Component Sourcing services include:

What is a land and defence component supplier?

A land and defence component supplier sources, authenticates and distributes electronic components and EEE parts that critical military systems require to operate successfully across land missions. These parts range from armoured vehicle electronics to battlefield communications hardware as well as a plethora of important military equipment systems.

Land and defence programmes need much tighter tolerances than typical supply chains. Parts need to meet strict industry standards, survive harsh operating settings and include full traceability from the beginning to the end of the supply chain. Counterfeit or poor quality parts are can compromise mission critical systems that could impact the safety of civilians and personnel.

Princeps works across the procurement process with quality testing and supply chain risk management. This includes authenticating parts against manufacturer specifications, inspecting counterfeit indicators and keeping compliant records during the whole component lifespan.

Princeps are experienced in working with defence clients internationally to provide electronic component sourcing and supply chain testing for land based and wider defence applications with a range of trusted accreditations. Our focus is on obtaining verified, traceable components for programmes that cannot risk equipment failure, delivered on time and to the exact specifications set out. For defence primes, integrators and MRO teams a trusted component supplier such as Princeps can be a quality partner and a reliable procurement resource to internal teams.

Who are component suppliers to the defence industry?

Component suppliers to the defence industry can be put into several distinct categories with each helping a different point of the supply chain.

Original component manufacturers (OCMs) for example, Texas Instruments, Infineon and Vishay, produce semiconductors, passives and electromechanical parts to military standards such as MIL-PRF and MIL-SPEC. Their authorised distributors including franchised networks such as Avnet and Arrow are the first tier of the supply chain.

Outside of franchised channels, independent distributors and specialist brokers are able to source components outside of the standard franchise network. This works best for legacy and long lifecycle defence programmes, where the original production runs have stopped and parts are no longer available through core channels.

Supply chain testing and quality assurance specialists such as Princeps work alongside traditional suppliers to verify part authenticity and performance before they reach defence critical systems. This type of supplier is vital for mitigating counterfeit risk which is a continuous issue in defence procurement.

Princeps are certified to AS9120 for aerospace and defence quality management, AS6081 for fraudulent and counterfeit part circumvention and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 laboratory accreditation. This comprehensive range of accreditations gives defence clients a fully accredited method of global component sourcing and independent testing.
