AS9120 - Quality Management Systems - Aerospace Requirements for Stocking Distributors

Princeps Electronics holds AS9120 certification, a quality management system developed for pass through distributors within the aerospace industry. This standard is based on ISO9001 and adds nearly 100 extra requirements focusing on areas directly impacting product safety and reliability, with much emphasis placed upon traceability, evidence of conformance and document control.

We still hold ISO 9001:2008 which requires us to make a formal statement, closely linked to the business and marketing plan and to customer needs, our quality policy can be seen here. The quality policy is not only understood and followed at all levels and by all employees but also everyone is encouraged to have input with ideas and suggestions for improvement. Each employee has measurable objectives to work towards.

The monitoring and surveillance process undertaken by our certification body is to a considerably higher level than that required at ISO9001 levels and our certification is a sure sign to you of our commitment to exceeding your quality expectations.
Decisions about the quality system are made based on recorded data and the system is regularly audited and evaluated for conformance and effectiveness.

We also determine customer requirements and create systems for communicating with customers about product information, enquiries, contracts, orders, feedback and complaints.

Princeps has a strong quality focus - it underpins everything we do - so we review performance during our quarterly review meetings where the whole organisation is given a "health check". Everyone in the company is involved in assessing how the quality system is working and what improvements can be made. Records are kept of these activities and the resulting decisions and we monitor their effectiveness.

Electro Static Discharge Prevention Programme

We operate an ESD control programme describing administration and technical measures to ensure compliance with the requirements of BS EN 61340-5-1:2007. This programme forms a separately audited appendix to our existing ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.

Counterfeit Mitigation and Detection Programme

Quality Inspection has always been important in the electronics industry. Today, with increased numbers of sub-standard and suspect components appearing in the market, it is imperative that distributors implement industry best practice to ensure only first class product reaches your lines.

Princeps has adopted the IDEA-STD-1010 standard as the starting point for all our goods inwards inspection routines, alongside our 65 madatory tests and checks.

This standard, published by IDEA, present acceptance requirements for components to determine with a high degree of confidence that parts under examination are in new/unused condition and they form the starting point of our independently assessed and audited Counterfeit Mitigation and Detection Programme.
